Hello Again! We’re incredibly excited to introduce this edition of Chinatown Futures: RITUALS/REMEMBRANCE centered around the themes of memories, spaces, and traditions that we each hold near and dear. We have timed the release of Edition 2 with Qingming, the Chinese Tombsweeping Festival, which we see as a moment that allows us to honor and commemorate those who we’ve lost, notably in a way that brings people together around food, family, friends and the act of giving and caring. In this edition, we showcase the work of AAPI artists, writers, and creators, interview artists on what rituals have shaped their past year, and highlight the rituals of local businesses across New York Chinatown. During a time of hardship, Qingming also signals the turn of weather, that spring is before us and we hope to carry this energy to refresh and lift our community collectively in strength and clarity.
For this edition, we were honored to partner with Welcome to Chinatown and Send Chinatown Love, who connected us with local NYC-based Chinatown businesses, non-profits, and mom-and-pop restaurants. As a means of further supporting our community, proceeds will be donated to community funds that are supporting businesses in Chinatown and Asian American advocacy.
If you are looking for other ways to support the community, please check out the following list of resources we have compiled here.
