FAQ

What types of submissions are you looking for?

We are open to any and all kinds of creative outputs! Please include the title of your piece, medium, your full name and IG handle (so that we can credit you accordingly) with your email submission.

What is the deadline for submissions?

We have just released Chinatown Futures Edition 2: Rituals and Remembrance. Please follow us at @chinatownfutures on Instagram to learn more about our future publishing initiatives and calls for submissions.

How much will the zine cost?

A physical edition of the zine costs $25 and the digital copy is pay-what-you-want, with a suggested donation of $5. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to community funds that are supporting businesses in Chinatown and Asian American advocacy.

Our first edition remains free and available for download on our website. You can find it here.

Does my submission around Chinatown need to be a specific, physical Chinatown?

No, not at all! While we are based in NY and reference the Manhattan Chinatown in our materials and photos, we acknowledge that Chinatowns far and wide hold special places in people’s hearts and minds. Part of our project is to document the Chinatown aesthetic that crosses boundaries and borders and the sense of familiarity we feel when we visit a Chinatown, wherever that might be.
